Dear Anthony & Sally,

We have been coming to Moraira, on and off, for the past 20 years – and are delighted that the local Council has resisted any temptation it may have had, to turn it into some kind of Benidorm or Calpe.

Of course there have been many changes during those years, but in the main they have been changes that have retained the village atmosphere.

As a consequence, when we decided to retire to the sunshine, it was the first location on our list, and we trawled the Internet for estate agents who could find us a dream property. Sadly, those that bothered to respond to our enquiry didn’t talk to us to find out what we wanted as our new home. Many properties featured, we soon discovered, were in fact no longer available to us, having some months earlier been sold. They were just bolstering their property lists

Then we saw the website of Spanish Property Sales, and the speedy response to our enquiry started with a phone discussion about our needs. In no time at all they had helped us build a description of an ideal property for our retirement. They explained they would now search for such properties through their many estate agent contacts. They further explained, that in the event of us making a purchase through them, their fee would be met by the state agent concerned. At no time, would there be any charge to us for the services they provide.

Before long, we were in Moraira looking at the properties they had suggested would fit the bill. Sally Bloom took the time to listen to what we had to say, rather than decide what we should be saying. Her guidance was useful and impartial. Anthony Bloom took us around to the properties selected for viewing, and again the guidance given was invaluable. In fact, we are now happily living in one of them.

From the first contact with Sally to the negotiating on our chosen villa with Anthony, everything ran like clock work.

Sally’s knowledge and due diligence gave us a healthy list of villas to go through and eliminate if necessary. Sally was always available at the end of the phone if we needed to talk. We can’t thank her enough, she took on all the hard work and made our lives so much easier.

On the first morning Anthony met us and went through the plan for the next few days. He drove us around while we were able to look at the area and contemplate what we had seen. He never put any pressure on us (which for me is great as I run a mile if I’m put under pressure) just gave us constructive comments on the villas. For anyone looking to buy property in Moraira or Javea.

We started looking for a place in Spain about 3 years ago, initially in the Oliva/Gandia region. We visited that area once with an agent and then broadened our search to get a better idea of what was available.

We found Spanish Property Sales (or Anthony and Sally) on the web about a year afterwards. Sally explained that unlike the other agents, they were property finders, who work on behalf of the buyer and not the vendor. So we explained what we were looking for (or what we though we were looking for!) and Sally put together an initial list of properties to view.

We then organised a viewing trip and when we arrived in Spain, Anthony took over. He picked us up in the morning from where we were staying and took us to around a dozen or so carefully selected properties over that first weekend.

We didn’t really know much of the area at first, but soon got the feel for the various parts (Partidas) whilst touring around with Anthony. We repeated the process of building a shortlist and viewing properties another 2 or 3 times over the next year and got a better idea of what we wanted, and fixed more closely on our preferred area (Moraira).

After one of the weekends, we put an offer in on a bungalow, but negotiations didn’t conclude in a sale, as the vendor did not accept our revised offer.

This is where Anthony and Sally’s advice was crucial. They advised us that they thought our offer was more than reasonable and advised us to keep on looking. Anthony was optimistic he would find us something. We really appreciated the fact that we were never put under any pressure to buy with Anthony and Sally, despite the fact that we must have put a few extra miles on Anthony’s car during our various trips.

Sure enough, a few months and one viewing trip later, Sally found us the villa that we now own. I’m glad the first sale didn’t go through, as what we have now is better in just about every way.

Already having a house in Spain, we were initially only putting feelers out for an investment opportunity. However after contacting Sally and Anthony and telling them a little about ourselves and our family they found us the perfect villa for our family within 2 days of viewings. As you know our visit in early May was in fact our third visit to the Javea / Moraira area over the past three years house hunting for our retirement family holiday home.
